Welcome Back

Hi everyone!

Welcome back to the grindstone. Hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing spring break. There's only about six weeks left in the semester, so let's finish out strong! (I know I need this advice right about now). It's amazing how time flies when you're having fun--and when you have a million things to do. Anyway, I just wanted to offer up some advice that I am constantly telling myself:

I enjoy being a student. Sometimes I overlook this simple fact; I get caught up in the day to day stress, and I lose sight of the real reasons I am here at NMSU. It's natural to get overwhelmed sometimes, but I have to remind myself of my long term goals in order to regain a positive attitude.

Relax. College is important. Being a responsible student and person is important, but it is also true that our days at NMSU will not be our last. Life goes on. We all have lives to live. I tell myself this all the time--I look for a balance between striving for academic success and just being a person in the world. Make time for your studies while making time for yourself. Reward yourself for working toward your goals.

Have fun! To put it boldly, our lives as university students are awesome. We are surrounded by a million opportunities everyday--opportunities to improve our education and our careers, opportunities to meet new friends or to join clubs. We have great schedules--summers off, a month for Christmas, spring break--the list goes on.

So these are some of the things that I think about when I get discouraged. I hope it might help for others as well. Let's stick with it and have a great final stretch.
